Activities (30%)

  • Scored based on collective years in 4-H and/ FFA

    • 8+ years, 6-7 years, 4-5 years, 2-3 years, <2​ years

  • Outlines specific career goals

  • Identified as meaningful and significant

  • Descriptions are no more than two concise sentences each

Essay (25%)

Content

  • Indicates how applicant plans to positively impact the future of food and agriculture industry

  • states why applicant is deserving of the award

  • strongly reflects applicant's knowledge, passion, and motivation

  • displays a clear voice for a passion of agriculture

  • essay is clearly worded and well organized

  • Thoughtful topic

 

Presentation

Quality of Writing

  • Style, clarity, flow, vocabulary

Organization

  • structure, paragraphing, introduction and conclusion

Conventions

  • syntax, grammar, spelling, and punctuation

Letters of Recommendation (10%)

  • A minimum of two letters of recommendation accompany the application

  • recommendation strongly supports application

  • recommendation reflects support and confidence in applicant's career and academic goals

  • recommendation provides specific insight into merits of application

Presentation (5%)

  • Application is carefully completed and well presented

  • Instructions were followed

  • Follows format of original application

  • Application is typed, proofed and free of errors
